Professor @ COSIC, KU Leuven
Nigel Smart is a well known cryptographer specialising in the design of public key techniques and advanced cryptographic protocols. He is a two time ERC Advanced Grant holder, former president of the IACR. His current research is focused on methods to compute on secure data. He founded Identum (sold to Trend Micro) and is co-founder of Unbound Technology.
Computing on Encrypted Data: How to do the impossible
Security of data has traditionally been about securing data whilst it is at rest, or during transit between sites. But data is useless unless you actually use it. My talk will discuss how we can now compute on data whilst it is in encrypted form. I will discuss a number of applications in this space, and discuss the existing companies working and how there solutions differ.
